2015 Hyundai Veloster: The Sports Car That Looks A Bit Different
Anyone who has seen a Hyundai Veloster on the road, has either marveled at the intelligence of its engineering, or been completely perplexed by its appearance. The Veloster offers the feeling of a four door sedan with the body shape and look of a sports coupe. This is achieved through the use of a large coupe door on the driver’s side of the car but a smaller two door configuration on the passenger side that offers access to the back seat by using a small door. When equipped with the six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission this engine achieves 132 horsepower and 120 lb.-ft. of torque along with a fuel efficiency of 28 city/36 hwy mpg. Obviously this is nothing to write home about, but at the base model fuel efficiency is enjoyable and the car is still energetic.
The second engine offered for the Veloster is under the hood of the Veloster Turbo and comes in the form of a 1.6-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine. This engine is powerful enough to have this light car accelerate quickly and easily. The turbo engine offers 201 horsepower and 195 lb.-ft. of torque and offers a fuel efficiency of 24 city/33 hwy mpg for the manual transmission and 24 city/31 hwy mpg for the automatic transmission. This is the powertrain of choice for this car to experience the full power and performance of this interesting car.
The cabin of the Veloster offers a ton of high-tech gadgetry and equipment to enjoy making this a car that just about any tech lover will really enjoy. Add to this the full cockpit style of the driver’s side and the feeling behind the wheel offers a full bevy of control features as well as information gauges to let the driver know what is going on. The entire interior is covered in enjoyable materials that are comfortable and pleasing. The RE:FLEX version adds piano-black accents and leather seats making it the only model that is not powered by a turbo engine to offer leather interior.
The outside of the Veloster offers just about all the interest in this very unique looking var. From the front sub-grill that is a menacing smile that is ready to cause trouble to the swept back headlights and long roof that show of signs of being a very easy to enjoy sports car the Veloster stands out in any crowd. The long and low profile makes the Veloster appear to be a quick and easy car to handle on any road. Because it is a Hyundai the Veloster comes with a great deal of standard features. This list of awesome equipment includes a seven-inch multimedia touch screen, a rearview camera, a six-way driver seat, an Internet radio ready audio system with 196 watts and six speakers, the Hyundai Blue Link telematics system for infotainment, a parental speed alert system and a six month subscription to the Hyundai systems to test them out and enjoy. As for the optional equipment for the Veloster, the list is bundled into Style and Technology packages. The Style Package adds a panoramic sunroof, a 450-watt eight-speaker audio system and leather upholstery. The Technology Package features a navigation system, a proximity key and push button starting, backup warning sensors, automatic headlights, automatic climate control and a 115-volt outlet. The RE:FLEX model adds piano-black interior trim and leather upholstery. The Turbo model adds an Ultimate Package to the mix which includes the sunroof, climate controls and the navigation system. Regardless of the added package, the Veloster gains a leap toward a luxury sports car with any of the packages added as well as plenty of additional equipment for the owner to really enjoy.
The Veloster is a sports car that really starts out with a very reasonable price at $18,700 for the base model with the manual transmission. Adding the automatic transmission increases the price by $1,250 and the RE:FLEX starts out at $22,600 for a great car. The R-Spec version is the least expensive turbo model coming in at $22,300, add another $1,000 for the Veloster Turbo that is priced at $23,300. Regardless of the model chosen, the Veloster has a lot to offer including the interest of the uniquely styled vehicle.
