When it comes to the luxury SUV market there’s a premium on the sport part of the equation. Many of the luxury automakers have chosen to focus on great driving manner and powerful engines to give us the precision and effective driving we want to have on the road. The Infiniti QX70 is the sport model in the Infiniti lineup to give the brand a great SUV for us to admire and drive. This SUV competes with the Porsche Cayenne and BMW X6 to be a vehicle that shows more for the ride than these two, but at a price that’s a lot easier to afford.
If I were to tell you there was a Korean made car that was able to stand out in a market that includes the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Ford Fusion, Chevrolet Malibu, Nissan Altima and Kia Optima you might be surprised and excited to learn what that car was. Once you know it’s the Hyundai Sonata you might think this car was an obvious choice to stand out in this crowd and be one of the cars in this class that offers you more for the money than anything else, because that’s what Hyundai has done for years.
The vast pool of compact SUVs has grown over the years and the RAV4 has been around for most of them. The challenge of taking a company toward electric propulsion rather than gasoline powered engines isn’t as difficult as it might sound. The reality is the components of an electric lineup are pretty easy as long as you have a platform to start with you can build up from there. The real challenge for any company is convincing the public that electric power is the way to go. Currently electric vehicle sales account for less than one percent of the worldwide sales of vehicles, but Daimler is working to change that with a new Mercedes-Benz lineup that will feature as many as ten new electric vehicles by 2025.
The Monterey Car Week gave us some of the most glorious vehicles that have ever been built to showcase and admire. One of the newcomers to the show that brings in an impressive history and shows off as one of the most impressive brand and vehicles on the circuit was the Aston Martin DB11. This show was the US debut of this new ultra-luxurious sports car that will be the next coming of the James Bond car that we all admire. Of course the DB11 wasn’t the only thing on display from Aston Martin during this show.
There have been some rumors and some grumblings. Ford has hinted at the possibility of a 400 horsepower Ford Focus RS that will be the hot hatch for all others to chase around Nurburgring, but this hasn’t come to fruition at all so far. In fact if feels as if Ford has put this project on the back burner for the time being which leaves those of us who are anxious for this power in our Focus with a bit of an unsatisfied feeling. What can we do to have the power we want in the hot hatch we love?
