2017 Audi Q5: Fewer Trims, but Still an Excellent Choice
The Audi lineup has felt some changes because of the Volkswagen debacle and for this new model year the Q5 will not have a diesel model but it also won’t have a hybrid version either. This year the Q5 will gives us a pair of great models to enjoy in the base Q5 and the SQ5 to give us the comfort and impressive style of the Audi interior to go along with the performance of the high end engine and suspension that we expect from an Audi model that has been one we’ve trusted for years.
These two versions of the midsized SUV from Audi give us the luxury crossover manners we want to enjoy and the exception al ride capability that make a huge difference on the road. This vehicle is not only a great drive, but it offers you the European driving manners you want and comes at a price that’s affordable when compared to many other luxury SUVs on the market today. For 2017 the Q5 shows up with the simplified lineup, a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel with paddle shifters on the 3.0T Prestige model, Audi Drive Select and adaptive cruise control are also added to this model. There is a new Black Optics package for the SQ5 model that brings in better looks and style for you to enjoy.
When you consider all the benefits of driving the Q5, there are some items that stand out ahead of the rest. The Audi Connect is a sophisticated infotainment system that stands out above the rest to be a great system for you to use. This system even adds the benefit of Wi-Fi to the vehicle to give you the connectivity you want for up to eight devices to connect to the system.
Another great feature for you to love is found in the engine lineup. Most of the time base engines aren’t that much fun to make use of, but the one found in the Q5 does a great job of being anything but a base engine. This is a power plant that comes to you as a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder model that offers you 220 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque while being attached to an eight-speed automatic transmission (which is used for all three engines). This powertrain is anything but ordinary and with the standard Quattro AWD, you have a great power train to enjoy.
Moving up the engine lineup you see a 3.0-liter supercharged engine as the next offering. This engine gives you 272 horsepower and 295 lb.-ft. of torque to make a huge difference in the power you enjoy. If you want to move all the way to the sport model of the SQ5, you will have the same 3.0-liter engine, but it will be tuned up to 354 horsepower and 346 lb.-ft. of torque to give you the ride you want with the amazing power you’ve been looking for to show you what this great midsized crossover luxury SUV can do.
Features you receive on the Q5 are items you expect to find when you consider Audi for your driving enjoyment. These features include a power tailgate, xenon lights, leather seats, 18-inch five-spoke wheels, tri-zone automatic climate controls, a ten-speaker audio system, high descent control and Bluetooth connectivity. The SQ5 adds heated front seats, keyless entry, push button starting, iPod integration, an automatic dimming rearview mirror and a panoramic moonroof to the equation. This higher model starts at the Premium Plus trim level to give you the ride you want to enjoy and features you’ve been looking for.
