2017 BMW 6 Series: Uniquely Similarly Different

The beauty of the way BMW puts a vehicle together and markets it is simply poetic in nature. Not only do they make some of the most active and enjoyable driving machines in the world, they also have a way of making each vehicle feel special. The 6 Series is a great example of this. There are three models for this car for 2017 and all three are uniquely different, but similar in many ways. As you know the 6 Series is a large coupe that makes it easy for you to enjoy the drive on any road and with such a large coupe you can cruise around in style and comfort.

One way to begin speaking about the differences of the three models is to look at the powertrains offered. There are three different engines for you to choose from. The base engine for the 640i and 640i xDrive is a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine that brings you 315 horsepower and 330 lb.-ft. of torque. Mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, this engine offers up fuel mileage of 21 city/30 hwy mpg for the RWD and 19 city/29 hwy mpg for the AWD model of the car.

Moving up to the 650i and 650i xDrive you get to enjoy a 4.4-liter twin turbocharged V8 engine that has 445 horsepower and 480 lb.-ft. of torque. Using the same transmission as the base model you will experience fuel mileage of 17 city/25 hwy mpg fir the RWD model and 16 city/24 hwy mpg in AWD versions. At the top of the engine lineup is the same engine in the M6 that has been tuned up to offer 560 horsepower and 500 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine uses either a seven-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission to deliver 14 city/20 hwy mpg in the automatic and 15 city/22 hwy mpg in the manual while also providing the driving excitement you want to have on a sports coupe.

The three different body styles you get to enjoy on this car are the Coupe, Convertible and Gran Coupe. The Gran Coupe adds two more doors to the vehicle for you to have four doors when you need them without giving up the amazing looks of the coupe design. This trio of body styles makes it easy for you to have a BMW 6 Series the way you want it and enjoy the ride of a vehicle that’s uniquely your own.

Of course we can’t discuss a car without looking at the features. The 6 Series offers you leather and wood accents throughout the interior along with xenon headlights, a navigation system, a 10.2-inch display touchscreen, dynamic cruise control, a rearview camera all as standard features on the 640i. Moving up to the 650i will bring in Nappa leather, 20-way power front seats, 19-inch wheels and a 12-speaker/500-watt audio system. All BMW models receive four years or 50,000 miles of scheduled maintenance to allow you to know your car is receiving the proper car on a regular basis.

Moving away from the standard offerings to the optional features allows you to enjoy the benefits of ventilated front seats, soft close doors, a head up display, a premium Bang & Olufsen sound system, active steering and Adaptive Drive. There is a Black Accent package that allows you to add high gloss black trim to the grill and interior of the car along with black tailpipes, tow-tone 20-inch alloy wheels and black Nappa leather to give you a great seat.

When you step in behind the wheel of any of the 6 Series models you can instantly enjoy the acceleration and the power that all version offer. There are excellent driving controls to allow you to choose Comfort, Sport and Sport + modes for your driving to either have a great cruise on the road or to test your driving skills with changes to the transmission and suspension.
