2017 Subaru Crosstrek: Trimmed and Fattened at the Same Time
When you see a vehicle that sounds like it could be a good idea in theory but once put into practice isn’t quite what it should have been you wonder why that vehicle ever made it to the market. While the Crosstrek from Subaru is a model that we love, the hybrid version never gave us anything special to enjoy which is one reason that trim has been cut from the lineup for 2017. This leaves us with a Subaru Crosstrek that offers us the most impressive SUV performance in this class with the full time AWD and higher ride that allows this subcompact crossover SUV to go places its competitors wouldn’t.
This sounds like an amazing vehicle to enjoy on the road as the Crosstrek can be exactly what you want when you’re looking for the right vehicle for your driving needs. This is an SUV that’s fuel efficient and easy to park. The size of this vehicle is perfect for city driving while the performance you enjoy can give you a way to get out of the city and enjoy the off road adventures that are right for you wherever you happen to drive.
With the hybrid gone what does the Crosstrek offer us as an improvement over the previous year? The model for 2017 shows up with a new 2.0i Premium Special Edition that brings in more features than we’ve had on a vehicle in this class in the past. Add an upgraded interior to the package and you’ve got yourself the upgrades for this SUV and they certainly do fatten up the benefits for our benefit. If you’re looking for Crosstrek to be something closer to premium, check out the Premium Special Edition for your driving enjoyment on the road and out in the wilderness.
There is only one engine that’s put under the hood of the Crosstrek. This engine is the most familiar to you if you’ve ever had another Subaru model. It is the 2.0-liter flat four-cylinder engine that brings you 148 horsepower and 145 lb.-ft. of torque. Sound familiar; it should, this is the same engine found in the new Impreza from which the Crosstrek is based. This engine is attached to either a five-speed manual or an optional CVT automatic for you to have the right shifting for the driving you do in this impressive little SUV.
The standard offerings for the Crosstrek give you a vehicle that’s easy for you to love on the road. This means you have a tilt/telescoping steering wheel, power windows, locks and mirrors, Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control, a multi-function display that shows you the fuel efficiency information, a 6.0-inch Starlink infotainment system and a rearview camera. Move up to the 2.0i Premium model and you will have items such as the All Weather Package with heated seats, mirrors, a windshield de-icer, a leather steering wheel, shifter handle and a six-speaker audio system to give you more enjoyment of the music you listen to in the vehicle.
Heading up to the optional items on the list the Premium models and higher will use the CVT automatic instead of the manual transmission. These trims also have the EyeSight system, blind spot detection, a moonroof, an upgraded Starlink infotainment system with a larger screen, SiriusXM satellite radio, two USB ports and much more. the Premium Special edition of the Crosstrek offers you push button starting, rear cross traffic monitoring while the Limited adds an automatic climate control system, automatic headlights, leather upholstery, better instrumentation and an available navigation system. Every trim of this SUV can give you exactly what you want on the road to be able to enjoy this SUV completely.
