An Early Take on the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox
As it continues to be one of the fan favorites when it comes to a great crossover SUV, the Equinox has been unveiled for 2016 offering more of what its rabid fans desire. Since its inception, the Equinox has offers the most spacious cabin of a crossover SUV giving occupants a ride they will enjoy each time they step foot inside the SUV. To go with the amazingly comfortable space, the Equinox is very quiet inside allowing for only the desired sounds to be fully enjoyed by all and not interrupted with outside road noises.
As the second best-selling Chevrolet vehicle, only the Silverado has had more sales, the Equinox continues to flourish in a segment filled with stiff competition. To go along with the quiet and spacious cabin, the Equinox offers excellent fuel efficiency and outstanding control to the mix to stay well ahead of this crowded segment of the automotive world. The outside gains a bit of a refresh as well, allowing for the vehicle to add more appeal (as if that were fair) and gain an even better following than before.
The front fascia features the new dual-port grill design that has become a signature of Chevrolet over the past few years. The headlights also add new reflector style to the mix on the L an LS models with the LT and LTZ receiving the full LED treatment. When the V6 engine is the power choice, the exhaust ports are chrome plated, giving the vehicle an even more sophisticated styling than before. To go along with this look, the higher trim levels also receive a new set of wheels, and more chrome trimming around the exterior of the Equinox to make it a seriously flashy SUV that will awe onlookers as it drives by.
The interior has been updated to add a new chrome shift buttons, new graphics for the instrument panel, a redesigned center stack with a new storage shelf, and upgraded fabrics even on the L and LS models. This will allow all owners of the new 2016 Chevrolet Equinox to enjoy the upgraded style and class this vehicle should and will be known for offering.
The engines continue from 2015 (no reason to mess with what’s working) which starts with a 2.4-liter direct-injection four-cylinder engine that brings in 182 horsepower. This is one of the most fuel efficient engines in the entire class and gives a great deal of peppy acceleration to handle highway driving with ease. The fuel efficiency on the highway for this engine shows up at 32 mpg making it easy to love this great SUV.
The other engine offered is the 3.6-liter V6 which shows up with the strength of 301 horsepower and is attached to a six-speed automatic transmission. The L model with likely only be offered with front –wheel drive while the rest will have the all-wheel drive available to them. The LT and LTZ models will be the only models the V6 is found in to add strength at the top of the lineup. With the V6 in place the vehicle offers a nice towing capacity of up to 3,500 pounds, making it easy to take a road trip with some camping gear for the weekend.
As a crossover SUV that is larger than most the Equinox has shown the capacity to perform well in just about any conditions. It’s easy to maneuver in a tight parking lot and handles the light to medium trails with exceptional capability. For those looking for a great new SUV in the latter part of 2015, start thinking about this new Chevrolet Equinox; it is a fantastic choice with everything you could need in a crossover SUV.
