Do you know what the Redline is when it comes to GM? For many of us something in our life has been called the Redline whether it only indicates the position on the tachometer where the rpm are higher than they should be or you are a Hot Wheels fan that collects the oldest models of the brand. For GM the Redline was a name given to Saturn models when the brand was around which indicated a higher performing version of the vehicles in the lineup. Chevrolet has recently brought back the Redline moniker and put it on nine of the models to give you what you want.
While the VW brand is working toward the electrification of their lineup they can’t deny the success that’s been part of the US market for SUVs over the past several years. Because of this success the brand has redesigned and remade the Volkswagen Tiguan for 2018 and has recently shown it off at the North American International Auto Show. this new SUV is growing by being longer and more capable to attract a larger audience of shoppers that would love to have this SUV for their daily driving duties. This new version of the SUV will continue to make good use of the space and convenience offered while providing the performance agility and value we want to enjoy.
Whenever an automaker announces changes in their lineup, especially changes that affect several models the idea that some aspects of those vehicles will no longer be offered becomes a reality. Most of the time the “out with the old, in with the new” concept is an answer to help improve the performance of that particular part of the car, no matter how much it was loved. One of the most loved aspects of the FCA lineup of Dodge, Ram and Jeep vehicles is the Hemi engine and what it means to those of us who want to enjoy the ride on the road.
In a world that has seen FCA dial back the brands and the models that it offers on the market one brand has continued to grow and will offer us more of what we want going forward in the future. That brand is Jeep and it’s not really any secret that FCA has put an enormous investment into what Jeep is and what it will continue to offer on the market in the future. To go along with the $1 billion investment being put into the Warren, MI and Toledo OH plants for the future of Jeep and what it will offer us.
Have you wondered when, if ever, BMW would put out another i model to go along with the i3 and i8? There has been talk of making this happen, but recent announcements lean toward more than just an i division sub brand, but a full electrification of the brand. BMW expects to take more than just a couple models to the electric powertrains but hopes to create an entire lineup of electric vehicles that offer the power and efficiency desired. To do this they have a few hurdles to jump over.
When you see a vehicle that sounds like it could be a good idea in theory but once put into practice isn’t quite what it should have been you wonder why that vehicle ever made it to the market. While the Crosstrek from Subaru is a model that we love, the hybrid version never gave us anything special to enjoy which is one reason that trim has been cut from the lineup for 2017. This leaves us with a Subaru Crosstrek that offers us the most impressive SUV performance in this class with the full time AWD and higher ride that allows this subcompact crossover SUV to go places its competitors wouldn’t.
For the past few years Tesla has had one important selling point over the other automakers on the market. They have offered their supercharging services to customers as part of the cost of ownership of their vehicles, which means free supercharging wherever they go. Tesla has built the first long rang all-electric lineup of vehicles on the market to give us an impressive way to drive and remain environmentally friendly. The announcement of changes to the free program came about last year and anyone who buys or orders their Tesla vehicle now or in the future will have to pay for the supercharging services being offered.
Most of the time cars are defined by their most purchased model and body style. For many cars, such as the Honda Civic, that body style is the sedan and the model is the small but mighty 2.0-liter engine that’s offered. When an automaker takes a sedan and turn it into a coupe it’s not often that we feel the coupe is better or more of what we want, but the Honda Civic of this generation could change your mind and make it easy for you to understand the new coupe and what it offers you for the drive.
If we didn’t want to see something amazing we wouldn’t have shows every year where companies can show off their creativity and what they have piling up in the back of their minds. The SEMA show is one of the most creativity driven expos on the circuit today and allows us to see just what some automakers and many upfitter companies are coming up with to put on the road. This is the show where we see vehicles that have more of what we want on them and some that are presented in ways that we many have never thought about.
The newest car to enter the Kia lineup is one that is a departure from what we normally expect Kia models to be. Kia has grown and developed over the years to be a brand that offers us a variety of great features, shows off improved looks and comes to us with the equipment we want to enjoy on the road. This brand is full of quality cars and SUVs that give you a great value and plenty of fuel mileage while also being reliable and engaging on the road. This all makes for a lineup of impressive family cars and SUVs which left room for what Kia is ready to offer.
