The Mid-Cycle Refresh Improves the Accord

Mid-Cycle Accord

In a class of vehicles that easily sees more sales than any other segment in the entire market each year the sedan class is one of the most competitive and hardest segments of vehicles to keep updated and properly refreshed.  In this class of vehicles the Honda Accord has been one of the most popular models for many years and across several generations in order to give us a car that has been a favorite of the daily commute.  This mid-cycle refresh now offers a more advanced technology package than ever before and brought safety to the forefront of its focus along with an improved driving dynamics.

Normally the Accord shows up behind the Toyota Camry for sales and with less to offer, but this new model will show up with some items that are not available for the Camry.  The first example of this will be the inclusion of the Apple CarPlay and the Android Auto compatibility which makes it easier for you to enjoy the same functionality through the infotainment system as you already enjoy on your own smart phone.  Another example is the LaneWatch system which will use a camera feed of the blind spot of the Accord when the turn signal is engaged to help make sure you won’t accidentally cause an accident.  The backup camera is also standard on all Accord models to help round out some great additional features.

To up the safety ante even farther the new Accord will be offered with the optional HondaSensing safety package except on the Touring trim where it will be standard.  The Honda Sensing package includes collision mitigation braking and forward collision warnings, lane keep assist, road departure mitigation and lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control.  All of this will offer you an Accord that is safer to drive and gives you more information in the driver’s seat than ever.

As one of the favorites in the class, the Honda Accord comes in powered by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 185 horsepower and 181 lb.-ft. of torque or a 3.5-liter V6 that comes in with 278 horsepower and 252 lb.-ft. of torque.  The transmissions used are either a six-speed manual, six-speed automatic or a CVT to give you the drive you want.  The fuel efficiency comes in at 27 city/37 hwy or a combined 31 mpg at the most efficient offering which is the four-cylinder engine with the CVT attached.  Pricing for the Honda Accord will range from a low of $22,105 to a high of $34,580 in order to continue to make the Accord a fair value and an affordable car to purchase.

On the outside the Accord will look upgraded as well with more chrome on the front of the car, add new wheels, new headlights and taillights, an upgraded set of bumpers and more LED lights.  The overall result is an Accord that looks sharper than before and continues to offer a great design that attractive to a growing crowd to enjoy.

From the driver’s seat you can see the same two-screen system that has become part of the Accord charm.  This interior is very comfortable and well-built to be useful and quiet.  The materials seem to be better than you would expect on a car that plays in the mainstream sedan market, but that is certainly a huge positive as is the spacious interior that allows you to stretch out and really enjoy the ride from any seat in the Accord.  Add the larger trunk that is now 15.8 cubic feet in size and you will want to think of ways to use all this added space when it’s time for long trips for vacation.

As a smooth and actively confident driving car the Honda Accord has the right upgrades in the right places for us to have a new vehicle that is still one of the best driving cars, especially when you consider the commuting and the company it keeps.  No matter which Accord you choose you simply cannot go wrong with this model and adding some great features to the already packed model will give you a car that performs closer to luxury than you might expect.
