Horsepower is always a great topic to discuss, the more the horsepower the faster your car is capable of going. Owners and enthusiast who enjoy sports cars often begin their discussion with comparisons of horsepower and torque numbers to see who has the most of either or both or a combination of the two. Well, here is a list of the top ten high horsepower sports cars meant to delight and enthuse those who love to talk about high powered machines.

#10 2014 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class

The SL65 AMG Base model is powered by a 6.0-liter V-12 twin turbo engine and is matched up with a seven speed automatic transmission. This awesome car starts our lineup coming in with overdrive, four-wheel anti-lock brakes, a full complement of airbags including driver and passenger knee airbags, an integrated navigation system, an airbag occupancy sensor, a unique BabySmart airbag child seat sensor, automatic air conditioning, 19-inch AMG forged aluminum wheels, cruise control, DISTRONIC PLUS distance pacing and driveline traction control. The horsepower for this excellent luxury sports car comes in at 621 horsepower.

#9 2014 Mercedes-Benz CL-Class

Two Mercedes-Benz make this list showing their strength. The standard features for the CL65 AMG Base includes a 6.0-liter V-12 twin turbo engine that is matched up with a five-speed automatic transmission. Even though the engine is the same as the SL-Class, the transmission is a bit different with two fewer gears. This car is equipped with overdrive, four-wheel anti-lock brakes, an integrated navigation system, a full complement of airbags, an airbag occupancy sensor, a child seat airbag sensor, automatic air conditioning, 20-inch AMG forged aluminum wheels, cruise control, distance pacing and driveline traction control. The horsepower offered for this engine is not surprisingly the same as the SL-Class at 621 horsepower.

#8 2014 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series

Once again we see a Mercedes-Benz vehicle on this list, which so far has had nothing but the offerings from Mercedes-Benz. This car looks much more like a sports car and comes in with standard features for its base model with a 6.2-liter V8 engine that gets fitted to the seven-speed auto-shift manual transmission. The vehicle comes with overdrive, four-wheel anti-lock brakes, an integrated navigation system, a full array of airbags for safety; 19-inch AMG forged aluminum wheels, cruise control and driveline traction control. Of the three discussed thus far this would be the choice option if looking for a sports car since this one actually looks very sporty and resembles some of the early model Porsche cars. The horsepower comes in at 622 for this Mercedes-Benz sports car, only a bit higher than the previous two.

#7 2013 Bentley Continental Supersports

At the base model the Bentley is powered by a 6.0-liter 10-cylinder engine and is mated to an automatic transmission. The Bently doesn’t appear to be much of sports car, but has made a name for itself as one of the most sought after high class vehicles on the planet. This car comes in with a horsepower that reaches up to 631 horsepower for owners to enjoy.

# 6 2015 Chevrolet Corvette

A classic name in sports cars enters the list at #6 with the Corvette ZR1 that is powered by a 6.2-liter V8 intercooled supercharged engine and matched up with a six-speed manual transmission. #5 2014 Dodge SRT Viper

Not quite as classic a name as the Corvette, the Viper has been known since its inception to be one awesome monster of the blacktop. With the SRT label, meaning Sports Racing Technology, this super car comes in with an 8.4-liter V-10 engine that is partnered with a six-speed manual transmission. The horsepower for the racing ready Viper comes in the list at 640 horsepower.

#4 2014 Ferrari FF

This outstanding coupe offered by Ferrari enters the list at #4 and is powered by a 6.3-liter 12-cylinder engine that is matched up with an automatic transmission. This awesome Italian shows off with 651 horsepower in the coupe that makes all other coupes jealous of the power. In true Italian style, the FF is overdone with that much power, but that is really a compliment and not a complaint because nothing less would be expected from the world’s greatest automaker.

#3 2014 Ford Shelby GT500

Another classic American model makes its appearance at #3 with the Shelby GT Mustang that is powered by a 5.8-liter V8 intercooled supercharged engine that is married up with a six-speed manual transmission. #1 2014 Ferrari F12 Berlinetta

Topping off this awesome list of power filled vehicles is the 2014 Ferrari F12berlinetta. A classy looking sports car that doesn’t actually look overdone on the outside the power plant comes in the form of a 6.3-liter 12-cylinder engine that is mated to an automatic transmission and brings the power number to their peak at 731 horsepower.

For most car enthusiasts the best we can do with this list is dream, hope and wonder if we will ever get the change to drive such awesome and highly tuned sports cars. For the few that actually are able to do so they sincerely keep automaker working to make the next big and powerful car to top this list and gain massive attention from car lovers all over the world.
