What is the rating the VW Atlas earned? This new SUV was rated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and awarded the Top Safety Pick. This means the Atlas was able to receive a good rating in all five categories of crashworthiness; small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraints. These marks in all categories for the crash ratings allows the Atlas to be an SUV that offers you the ability to trust what this vehicle can do and how it can perform for you when you’re looking for the drive you want on the road.

In addition to the crash systems that have been rated at this level, the Atlas has a technology-filled crash prevention system that has earned a superior rating. The 12-mph IIHS track test was perfect with the Atlas avoiding a collision and in the 25-mph test, the impact speed was reduced by 17 mph to make the impact less forceful. The only aspect of the VW Atlas that didn’t rate good or superior was the headlights. These were rated as marginal and poor and prevented the Atlas from being rated as a Top Safety Pick+ by the IIHS.
