Riding Large in a Subaru

by Noah ReynoldsPosted on January 17, 2019January 17, 2019

What’s been missing from the Subaru lineup? Over the years we’ve loved the fact this brand offers nearly every model with AWD and it has a wide variety of vehicles that can offer you the ride you need and the quality you want as long as you don’t expect to have three rows of seats. This is what was missing from the SUVs that are offered by this brand for the past few years and now we will have the chance to enjoy the benefits of the seating we want with the newest Subaru model.

The new model that will make its way to the market and be an excellent choice for you to drive is the Ascent. This is a large SUV that will arrive for the 2019 model year and now that the Los Angeles Auto Show has begun, this SUV has been revealed along with some of the impressive qualities that it brings to the market. This impressive new SUV is aimed at the crowd that has been searching for the right large SUV for the drive and has loved the other models from Subaru in the smaller models that have been driven on the road.

What Does the new Ascent Offer?

Not only do you have the benefit of three rows of seats with the second row offering the option of either a bench or two captain’s chairs at no additional cost. This will be a comfortable cabin that has what you want on for the drive with eight USB ports, 19 cupholders, a 120-volt outlet, and on-board Wi-Fi. There is a 6.5-inch Starlink infotainment system which is standard on the base model with the Premium, Limited, and Touring models that offer an upgraded 8.0-inch screen for the drive. Both of these systems offer you Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for the connectivity you need.

Under the hood, the engine used is a 2.4-liter turbocharged boxer engine that provides 260 horsepower and 277 lb.-ft. of torque for the drive. This engine is attached to a CVT automatic transmission and makes use of the Subaru symmetrical AWD system. This powertrain allows for the Ascent to be able to tow up to 5,000 pounds behind it to make sure you can take a load of gear with you wherever you want to go to have the weekend fun you’ve got in mind.

There are several impressive safety systems offered with the Ascent, which you expect to find in this impressive model. The EyeSight driver system is standard and makes this a large SUV that can be perfect for your drive. This SUV is expected to go on sale in the early part of the Summer of 2018 to be available to you soon. This will be the next model that’s built in the Indiana Subaru plant alongside the Impreza, Outback, and Legacy to be a new SUV that offers what we’re looking for when it’s time to have the right vehicle for the drive.
