Driving a vehicle in the Porsche Taycan class is a sure sign of success. You don’t spend that much money on a car that isn’t amazing.
Recently, Porsche revealed a new entry-level version of this car that will simply be called the Taycan. The price is lower, but that doesn’t make it cheap at all. Let’s take a look at what this new model will offer.
What Does this Starting Version Offer?
This new model will simply be called Taycan and it comes with one of the two battery packs that we see in the Taycan 4S. If you stick with the base version, you’ll have a 79.2-kWh battery that can give you the power and drive you need.
Choose the Performance Battery Plus option and you’ll pay more but also have the 93.4-kWh battery. Using only one motor in the rear, you’ll have 322 horsepower and 254 lb.-ft. of torque, which is pretty impressive. The upgraded battery option will increase these numbers to 375 horsepower and 263 lb.-ft. of torque.
Add the Sport Chrono feature to the mix and you’ve got a car that is rated at 402 horsepower and 469 lb.-ft. of torque. This car gives you an RWD setup with that single motor and battery setup.
This Version of the Porsche Taycan is Much Lighter
One benefit to taking away the front motor is the reduction in weight that you’ll have in this electric sports car. The weight loss is 200 pounds to give you a car that weighs 4,566 pounds overall. Regardless of the loss of weight, both versions of the Taycan can reach sixty mph in 5.1 seconds and have a top speed of 143 mph, which means the more affordable model might make the most sense to you.
Other Items Remain Standard for this Car
When you look at the entry-level Porsche Taycan, you’ll see some of the same features that come in the 4S model. This base version has 19-inch blade-style wheels that are standard with larger wheels offered as options. You’ll be pleased with the style and elegance of the cabin area which reminds you that you’re driving a car that’s incredible for you to enjoy on the road or track.
Add Similar Options to Your Taycan
With looks and features that are the same on the entry-level model as the higher trims, you can have some of the same options for this version. Add the benefits of InnoDrive, an on-board charger, a head-up display, and massaging seats. Some of these items could make it much easier for you to have the drive you want to enjoy in this amazing car.
You’ll still pay over $80,000 to own the Porsche Taycan, even in the entry-level version. This car is eligible for the $7,500 Federal EV Tax Credit, which brings the price down, but you’ll still get to enjoy a supercar with electric power if that’s what you’ve been looking for. This new model of the Taycan gives us another great way to have a lot of fun when we take a drive.
