2022 Dodge Challenger Review
The 2022 Dodge Challenger is a fun sports coupe that starts at $30,430. It can seat up to five people and features a standard 3.6-liter V6 engine that makes 303 horsepower. This engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and you can choose from RWD or AWD. Choose an upgraded level of horsepower with four different V8 engines that are also available on the Dodge Challenger. The biggest one makes 807 horsepower.
Dodge Challenger Pros and Cons
As with any vehicle, the Dodge Challenger has its pros and cons. Among the great features of the Challenger are its retro classic exterior design, AWD availability, incredible choice of powerful engines, an actual usable rear seat, and a large trunk. The Challenger also features a smooth and user-friendly multimedia system.
Before you buy, it’s important to consider some of the cons of the Challenger. The standard V6 engine is a bit tame with no muscle car roar, but of course, you can always upgrade to a beefy V8. The Challenger feels heavy on the road and the steering isn’t particularly sharp. In terms of safety features, automatic emergency braking isn’t offered.
Dodge Challenger Trims
Let’s take a closer look at the Dodge Challenger’s available trims. There are a total of 11 trims on the Challenger, so most buyers will find something to like in one of them. The price range for the Challenger starts at $30,430 for the lowest trim and more than doubles for the highest trim at $63,530. Base trims come with the V6 engine that has plenty of power but doesn’t have the satisfying muscle car sound. The base trims do offer AWD as an option. The first trim with the V8 engine is the R/T. This trim comes with the 372-horsepower V8 and only offers RWD. There are two other R/T trims in the Scat Pack and Scat Pack Widebody. The top trims are the SRT Hellcat trims, which include the Widebody, Redeye Widebody, and Redeye. For those who want the most power, the Hellcat is the way to go.
Dodge Challenger Features
Some notable standard features on the Dodge Challenger include a 7-inch touchscreen, dual-zone automatic climate control, power-adjustable driver’s seat, and smartphone connectivity. There is also a long list of available features that you can add to your Dodge Challenger, including a power moonroof, leather upholstery, an 8.4-inch touchscreen, a Brembo brake system, a navigation system, plenty of driver-assist safety features like forward collision warning, and much more.
If you’re looking for an exciting, retro-styled muscle car, the Dodge Challenger is hard to beat. However, we recommend moving up to one of the higher trims to get the true muscle car experience with one of the powerful V8 engines.
