The Next Generation Ford Mustang Is Here

The 2023 Ford Mustang is in its sixth generation, but the 2023 model year won’t have much to offer over older models. This is very likely due to the fact that the seventh generation of Mustang has already been revealed and looks very exciting with V8 power and a jet-inspired cockpit. The updated order guide for the 2023 model is out, and there’s not much new.

Two Retiring Colors

The biggest change for the main models of the 2023 Ford Mustang is the retirement of two colors in Cyber Orange and Brittany Blue Metallic. The Cyber Orange color is disappearing across the board for Ford. It was recently removed from the Bronco lineup and the 2023 Maverick. The Blue Metallic color is a classic shade for the Ford Mustang that has been around since the late 60s. However, it apparently didn’t sell all that well on the new Mustang, so Ford decided to discontinue it. The other big change is that the Shelby GT500 model won’t be sold for 2023, so the most powerful 2023 model you can buy is the Mustang Mach 1. When the new generation of Ford Mustang hits, this model will be replaced by the Dark Horse, which will be even more powerful.

New and Continuing Style Packages

Several appearance packages and special editions have been added or kept for the new model year. One of these is the Mustang Nite Pony Package, which is the opposite appearance package to the Mustang White Ice package. The Nite Pony features black alloy wheels, a black decklid spoiler, black mirror caps, a black grille, and a black roof. This package can be had on the EcoBoost and GT models. The upcoming generation of Mustang will add some new appearance packages as well and is expected to offer two new color shades—Vapor Blue and Yellow Splash—to replace the retiring ones.

What’s New For the Seventh Generation Ford Mustang?

The debut of the seventh-generation Ford Mustang definitely steals the thunder from the last model year of the sixth generation. Ford notes that putting out a new generation of Mustang makes a big statement when many of its competitors are focusing on getting away from the internal combustion engine.

Will the new Mustang live up to the hype? It already has a lot going for it, with the announcement of a more powerful version of the 5.0-liter Coyote V8. Ford says this engine will have at least 480 horsepower, and it will include a dual air intake box and dual throttle body. A high-performance model called the Dark Horse will also be available, and it will have at least 500 horsepower. Beyond raw power, the new Mustang will offer a Performance Pack on the GT and EcoBoost models. This package features upgrades like wider rear wheels and tires, bigger brakes, a Torsen limited-slip differential, and a standard electronic drift brake.

When Can You Get Your Hands on the New Ford Mustang?

The 2023 Ford Mustang will be available soon, but more information on the 2024 Mustang is yet to come.
