Power and Precision: Discover the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD

The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD offers plenty of power for almost anything you can throw at it, making it one of the most capable heavy-duty trucks.

It has a supremely roomy interior and a 15-angle camera system to make towing easier. If you need a big truck, the Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD has you covered, but it does have a few drawbacks, including a high and wide hood that hampers the frontal view and it lacks a ZR2 trim.

New Features For the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD

The Silverado 3500 HD enjoys some updates for 2024, including a refreshed exterior and an updated interior that adds a 13.4-inch touchscreen on higher trims beginning with the LT. For those who need powerful towing capacity, a stronger diesel engine has been added as an option. The 10-speed automatic transmission is now standard with all engines. The 2024 model is part of the fourth generation of the Silverado HD that debuted for 2020.

As an HD truck, the Silverado 3500 is one of only a few models that can tow and haul extremely heavy loads. You also have the option on this truck to have dual rear wheels. This isn’t available on the Silverado 2500. The dual rear wheels give you even more payload and towing capacity.

At Chevy car dealerships, the LT trim tends to be the most popular with buyers. The Silverado 3500 comes in two fewer trims than the 2500 for a total of four. The LT trim is one step up from the Work Truck trim and starts at under $55,000 while adding many niceties that the base trim doesn’t have. At the top of the lineup is the High Country trim, which goes hard on the luxury features.

The last redesign for this truck came in 2020, but the new Silverado 3500 HD features a new front fascia that integrates LED headlights and animated turn signals that point in the direction the truck is turning. All trims but the base trim also have an upgraded interior that adds a larger touchscreen and instrument cluster.

Since this truck is meant to tow large items, it’s no surprise that it offers plenty of trailering tech. Along with the new camera system, the Silverado 3500 gets an adaptive cruise control feature made for towing. The optional diesel engine increases in power by 25 horses and 65 pound-feet of torque.

How To Choose Your New Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD

As mentioned above, the LT trim tends to be the most popular for its combination of new features, value, and an integrated trailer brake controller. The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD comes in three different layouts. The regular cab is a two-door model and the Double Cab is a four-door model, but it’s more like an extended cab due to the small backseat. The true four-door model is the crew cab.

All three cab layouts can be had with a long bed, but the standard bed with the crew cab is a short bed to improve maneuverability. Two engines are available on the Silverado 3500 HD. The standard engine is a 6.6-liter gas V8 that makes 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. The optional engine is a 6.6-liter diesel V8 that makes 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque.

The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD is a big truck made for big jobs, but you can also outfit it with plenty of creature comforts.
